Outdoor Fitness Haven

 We have been privileged to work on this property for over 18 years. Our clients' vision was a backyard oasis for their family to enjoy, including elements designed for physical fitness and entertaining. Today, this home features a multi-level swimming pool with a water slide, a full-size tennis court, a putting green, an outdoor kitchen and dining area, a gas fire pit, a wood burning fireplace with chimney, a lap pool, a second gated driveway and parking area, a rose garden with a fountain,  and an intricate landscape that includes secret walled gardens, shady pathways with vine-covered walls and gas lanterns, flower gardens bursting with color, and ornamental trees to provide shade and seasonal beauty. 

The process of building this haven was no simple task. Working with a licensed soil engineer, we had to relocate the propane tank, septic tanks, and the repair field to allow for new construction. The original well had to be abandoned as it was also in the construction area; one new well was drilled for the house water, and one was drilled for irrigation for the landscape. The shrink-swell clay soils that are common throughout the Chapel Hill area were a challenge on this project; most areas had to be over-excavated and stone fill brought in according to the engineer’s recommendations. This allowed us to create a stable base for the hardscaping, and to this day, there have been no cracks or shifting in the surfaces we built.

In addition to constructing this evolving landscape over an 18-year period, we have been entrusted with its weekly care for that period as well.
